WINGS April, 2004

Apr 12 - Finally got back to working on the plane again, after spending the winter working in Jamaica, then getting married to Karla in Las Vegas and honeymooning in SoCal for a few weeks.  It took me a while to figure out where to resume working.  I decided to start mounting the HID landing light.  3.5 hr

I decided to mount the HID transformer on the back of the plate that holds the lights, so I added the nutplates shown here.

I had to make cutouts in the edge of the light mount plate, so the wires to and from the transformer would clear.

Apr 15 - working on wiring to both landing lights.  2.5 hr

Here is the HID transformer and light mounted in place.

Apr 16 - finish securing & installing HID light wiring harness.  1.0 hr

Then I secured the wire set going from the transformer to the light.

And here is the HID light, installed in the wing.

Apr 28 - Install and torque wing tank fasteners (21 bolts and 74 screws per wing).  3.75 hr

Lots & lots of screws & bolts hold the wing tanks on.  Be sure to start all screws and bolts before tightening any of them.  I had taken the tanks off when I got the QB kit, because the Orndorff QB video tape told me to, but I later found out it wasn't necessary on a 7; just a 6.  All the bolts must be torqued to 20-25 inch-pounds.
